Faces of MePACS

Christine’s journey to MePACS is one shaped by courage, reinvention and a genuine love for helping others. Today she’s an Emergency Response Operator and newly appointed Relief Team Leader — but the path that brought her here spans continents and careers.

From Germany to Australia

Christine hails from a small German town. While on holiday in Australia, she fell in love with Melbourne’s culture, friendly people and relaxed lifestyle. That was it – she made the decision to stay.

Back in Germany, Christine had trained as a butcher and took great pride in her craft. In Australia though, she discovered the techniques and cuts were completely different. She took it as an opportunity to change careers and explore new possibilities.

Finding her place at MePACS

After working for Lifeline, supermarket retailers and even running her own farm, a friend suggested she consider MePACS. The Emergency Response Operator role quickly felt like the right fit. “The part I enjoy most about this job is talking to clients and being there for them in their moments of need.”

Supporting clients to maintain their independence is especially meaningful to her. “It gives me joy to support clients and help them remain in the comfort of their own homes.”

And when clients express their gratitude, it stays with her. “It’s so rewarding when clients express their gratitude and tell us they feel safe knowing someone will be there for them.”

Her dedication and natural leadership were recently recognised with her appointment as Relief Team Leader — a milestone she’s incredibly proud of.

Life on the farm

Outside of work, Christine lives on a picturesque farm surrounded by rolling paddocks and the animals she adores. Her mornings begin with coffee and the sunrise before tending to her cattle, sheep, three cheeky cats and her loyal Border Collie.

Her farm has become a favourite destination for colleagues, who are welcomed with laughter, biscuits, animal cuddles and quad‑bike rides across the paddocks. Christine is known for her warmth, generosity and quirky gifts that brighten people’s days.

Leading with heart

When she’s not working or on the farm, Christine volunteers at an op shop, helps at local schools and keeps busy with cattle breeding. In her downtime, she enjoys pasta and quiz shows. She dreams of travelling to Russia to explore Moscow’s historic beauty — and skydiving is high on her bucket list!

Her favourite quote reflects her belief in kindness and the energy we bring into the world:

“How you call into the forest is how it echoes back.”

Christine’s approach to embracing change led to extraordinary new beginnings. From her German hometown to her Australian farm, and now to her leadership role within the MePACS team, she continues to inspire those around her with her compassion, resilience and zest for life.
