A Stronger, Connected Future for Healthcare

On 1 January 2026, five major Victorian health services — Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health, Gippsland Southern Health Service, Kooweerup Regional Health Service and Peninsula Health — officially united to form Bayside Health, a major public health provider serving more than 1.2 million people across Melbourne’s south‑east and regional Victoria.

As a proud division of Bayside Health, MePACS remains committed to providing the exceptional care and personal service our clients rely on every day.

This merger is an exciting milestone that reflects the Victorian Government’s long-term Health Services Plan to deliver healthcare that is better, safer, more accessible and more connected for the community. Bayside Health will build on strong existing clinical partnerships and create new opportunities for research, service expansion and staff development — all focused on improving patient outcomes.

For MePACS, there is no change to our service, our staff or how clients engage with us. What does change is our ability to grow and innovate as part of a stronger, more integrated health network — ensuring our personal alarm response service continues to support Australians to live safely and independently at home.

MePACS has always been part of the public healthcare network

Why is this important?

All MePACS profits are reinvested into public health initiatives and research, directly contributing to better healthcare for all Australians, rather than private shareholders.

We uphold the highest standards of care and service quality in line with healthcare legislation and regulations. Our person‑centred services are inclusive, respectful and empathetic.

MePACS' services are registered with both My Aged Care and the NDIS, which means that we meet their requirements for compliance and can be funded through these national government programs.

We are able to partner with hospitals, universities, the National Centre for Healthy Ageing and others to support research, innovation and new initiatives for vulnerable Australians.

Our team are all Bayside Health employees based in Melbourne, first-aid trained as a minimum, and fully compliant with the Disability Act and Aged Care Act.

FAQ

Why did the Bayside Health merger happen?

The merger builds on a long history of collaboration between the five health services, where shared specialties such as surgery, neurology and cardiology already existed. This voluntary merger is designed to improving health outcomes for our communities by working together and combining resources to provide better access, innovation and quality care.

If I have a MePACS alarm, does anything change?

No, your MePACS alarm will continue to work exactly the same way it always has — with the same 24/7 emergency response team; the same fees and funding options; the same contact channels; and the same commitment to keeping our community safe. We even have the same ABN. The merger is an organisational change, not a service change for MePACS clients.

What is MePACS' association with Bayside Health?

MePACS was founded in 1989 by Peninsula Health to deliver the Personal Alert Victoria (PAV) program. Over time, we expanded beyond PAV to support people across Australia, while remaining a division of Peninsula Health. Following Peninsula Health’s merger into Bayside Health, MePACS has now become a division of Bayside Health.

The creation of Bayside Health marks the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunity. Together, we are part of a future-focused health service that benefits our clients, partners and community.
