Smoke detector FAQs

Do MePACS smoke detectors work with other personal alarms?

MePACS smoke detectors work only with a MePACS Home Alarm and cannot be used with other alarm systems. Each detector is paired with a specific MePACS Home Alarm and will automatically activate that alarm if smoke is detected.

MePACS smoke detectors can only be purchased through MePACS and are available only to clients who have a MePACS Home Alarm.

Can I install the smoke detector myself?

No. The smoke detector and connecting interface must be installed by a certified electrician in order to comply with Australian safety guidelines.

Can I use a different brand of smoke detector?

Only MePACS smoke detectors are compatible with our Home Alarm. Other smoke detectors will sound an alarm but they will not not alert our 24/7 Emergency Response Team.

Can I have more than one smoke detector?

Yes. You can have more than one MePACS smoke detector installed at your home, but they need to be installed and configured correctly to function properly.
